Mono, Duo, and Twin: Which Configuration Do You Need?
Here is exactly what you need to add to cart for each setup.
Mono: Single Stroller Setup
The Mono configuration is your starting point for one child, from birth through approximately 48.5 lbs. The Mono box includes the bassinet, seat, and side luggage bag — everything needed from day one. In single mode, the extra side space becomes a generously sized luggage basket.
What to buy: Bugaboo Donkey 6 Mono box only. When a second child arrives, the frame expands and no replacement stroller is needed.
Duo: Side-by-Side Stroller for Siblings
The Duo configuration seats two children side by side at the same height, with the Sibling Seat suitable for a second child from 6 months to 22 kg (48.5 lbs). Converting from Mono to Duo takes three clicks to expand the frame. The Sibling Seat clicks into the integrated adapters where the luggage bag normally sits, and the bag repositions to the handlebar at a reduced 4 kg (8.8 lbs) limit.
What to buy: Donkey 6 Mono box + Donkey 6 Sibling Seat (sold separately; suitable from 6 months to 22 kg).
Twin: Side-by-Side Stroller for Newborn Twins
The Twin configuration places two newborns in independent bassinets side by side from birth. As children grow, both seats transition to forward-facing or parent-facing use. The setup can also accommodate a third child via the separately sold wheeled board.
What to buy: Donkey 6 Mono box + Donkey 6 Twin Bassinet Fabric (sold separately).
What’s New in the Donkey 6 vs. the Donkey 5
The core single-to-double patented frame system is unchanged. Here is what the Donkey 6 improves.
• Bassinet upgraded: 2× larger breezy panels, 100% organic cotton linings, and a reversible dual-sided PureBreeze mattress
• Underseat basket 50% larger — now holds up to 15 kg (33 lbs)
• Side bag redesigned to double as a changing bag and attach to the handlebar in double mode
• New back-of-seat pocket for quick-access essentials
• Dope-dyed fabric: color infused directly into fibers, fade-proof, reduced water and chemical use
• 17% lower CO₂ footprint than the Donkey 5, with recycled aluminum and bio-based materials
• Seat fabric now covers the footrest; color-matching harness with longer straps
