UPPAbaby Cruz Infant Insert
The infant insert is included with the Cruz V3 at purchase. No separate accessory is required to use the stroller from birth.
The insert provides head and body support for newborns in the lay-flat seat position. Remove it once your child has sufficient head control, typically around 4 to 5 months. The insert is not needed when using the Bassinet V3 attachment.
UPPAbaby Cruz V3 vs. Vista V3
Both strollers share the same FlexRide Suspension, never-flat tires, magnetic buckle harness, REACH-certified leather accents, and a 30 lb. basket. The difference is in family size and configuration.
The Cruz V3 weighs 26.5 lbs with a folded footprint of 17" L × 22.5" W × 32.5" H. The Vista V3 weighs 27.6 lbs with a larger folded footprint of 16.3" L × 25.7" W × 33.8" H. The Cruz V3 includes lay-flat carriage mode from birth. The Vista V3 requires the Bassinet V3, sold separately, for newborn use.
The Cruz V3 does not convert to a seated double stroller. The Vista V3 converts to a double with the RumbleSeat V3 and accommodates up to three children with the PiggyBack Ride-Along Board. Both strollers accept the UPPAbaby MESA and Aria directly, and third-party infant car seats with a compatible adapter.
Choose the Cruz V3 for one child and urban daily use. Choose the Vista V3 if you are planning for two or more children. The Cruz V3 accepts the PiggyBack Ride-Along Board for an older sibling who can stand unassisted, but does not offer a seated double configuration.
UPPAbaby Cruz Car Seat Compatibility and Travel System Use
The UPPAbaby MESA and Aria infant car seats attach directly to the Cruz V3 frame without any adapter, creating a complete travel system with a single click. If you are purchasing both together, choosing a MESA or Aria eliminates any additional accessory cost.
The Nuna PIPA series, Cybex Aton series, Maxi-Cosi, Peg Perego, and Chicco infant car seats are compatible with the Cruz V3 using the correct brand-specific UPPAbaby adapter, purchased separately. Adapters are not included with the stroller. Convertible car seats are not compatible with the Cruz V3 frame.

UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. Cruz V3
For parents evaluating a Cruz V2 or considering the upgrade, the V3 introduces five meaningful changes. First, carriage mode: the Cruz V2 required a separate Bassinet attachment for newborn use. The V3 lay-flat seat eliminates that requirement for most families. Second, suspension: the V3 adds All-Wheel FlexRide Suspension, replacing the V2's simpler all-wheel system.
Third, the harness buckle: the V3 magnetic no-rethread buckle replaces the V2’s traditional clip, meaningfully faster to secure with an infant. Fourth, the V3 canopy adds a zip-out extension with mesh ventilation panels for improved airflow. Fifth, reflective trim on the wheels and basket improves low-light visibility.
Honest verdict: For families who used a Cruz V2 with the Bassinet attachment, the carriage mode and FlexRide Suspension upgrades are the most compelling reasons to move to V3. For families with older toddlers, the Cruz V2 continues to perform well.
