Koroyd Technology and Energy Response Protection

The Knox is the only convertible car seat to integrate Koroyd technology in its base. Koroyd is an aerospace-derived welded tube structure that crumples on impact, absorbing force and reducing the energy transferred to the child — functioning like a crumple zone built into the seat itself. It works alongside EPP foam throughout the shell and Side Impact Pods on the outer shell that are always engaged. Energy Response Technology protects from multiple directions simultaneously. The Kido BĂ©bĂ© team has assessed the Knox in person at our Montreal showroom.

SMART Secure Installation System

The Knox's SMARTSecure system confirms a correct installation visually — the indicator turns from red to green once the seat is properly secured, giving parents a confidence check every time. Tensioning clips and color-coded belt paths simplify threading. UAS (Universal Anchorage System) installation is available for compatible vehicles — UAS is the correct Canadian term for the lower-anchor system. Seat belt installation is also supported and often recommended for versatility across different vehicles. Kido BĂ©bĂ©'s Montreal showroom at 4100 Boulevard Thimens offers complimentary fitting verification for every Knox purchase.

Multi-Directional Tether for Rear and Forward Facing

The Knox includes a Multi-Directional Tether recommended for both rear-facing and forward-facing installations. It reduces seat rotation and the stress placed on the child's head and neck during a collision. Crash testing at independent laboratories confirmed a 45% reduction in injury potential when the tether is used in the rear-facing position. The Knox is designed to support extended rear-facing use within its certified Canadian weight limits, consistent with Transport Canada's guidance to keep children rear-facing as long as the seat allows. Tether use is strongly recommended in all Canadian vehicles regardless of installation method.

Grows With Your Child From Infant to Toddler

The Knox accommodates children rear-facing from 14 to 40 lbs in Canada — the confirmed Canadian specification, which differs from the 45 lb limit on US-market versions. A two-piece fit inlay provides proper positioning from 14 lbs through the early stages. The no-rethread harness adjusts simultaneously with the eight-position headrest, so no re-routing is required as the child grows. Four recline positions ensure the correct rear-facing angle at each stage. Forward-facing use is supported for weights from 25 to 65 lbs, with a maximum height of 49 inches. Purchasing from an authorized Canadian retailer ensures you receive the Canadian-certified version with the correct specifications.

Chemical-Free Fabric and Comfort Materials

The Knox is available in SafeTech and PureTech fabric options made without added fire-retardant chemicals — a distinction that matters to parents who scrutinize what is in contact with their child's skin during every drive. The Jordan and Gregory colorways use Merino wool, which offers natural fire resistance without chemical treatment and is temperature-regulating and breathable for year-round comfort. Seat base fabric is removable for cleaning. A removable cup holder attaches to either side without interfering with installation. All Knox fabric options are certified to the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213 under Transport Canada.

UPPAbaby Knox vs Other Convertible Car Seats

The Knox is the only convertible car seat in its category to integrate Koroyd crumple-zone technology into the base — a structural differentiator that no competing model currently replicates. For parents comparing options, the Nuna RAVA is a strong rear-facing alternative with a 40 lb rear-facing limit in Canada and broad vehicle compatibility. The Graco 4Ever offers extended all-in-one use across more growth stages at a lower investment point. All three seats are available for in-person assessment at Kido BĂ©bĂ©'s Montreal showroom, where our team can evaluate vehicle compatibility and child fit for every option before you decide.
